Finansol | 9 | Description | Finansol is the reference label for solidarity finance in France, i.e., funds that allocate a portion of income or assets to support philanthropic and/or nonprofit activities with a strong social matrix. | d | 1 | 6 |
Finansol | 9 | Genesis and development | The Finansol label was created in 1997 for the purposes of helping distinguish solidarity finance products from other products, and facilitating savers' research. Administered historically by the nonprofit Finansol Association, it is now managed by FAIR the Solidarity Promotion Association created by Finansol and Iilab, the French social impact finance specialist. | d | 1 | 11 |
Finansol | 9 | Goals | The primary objective of the Label is to make solidarity products offered on the French market easily recognizable and facilitate their promotion. Solidarity investments (eg high social impact) enhance employment and business creation, social housing, ecological activities and entrepreneurship in developing countries. | d | 1 | 12 |
Finansol | 9 | Promoters and administrators | The Label has been managed by the Finansol Association (now part of FAIR) since its creation in partnership with numerous actors from mutual insurance, banking and the French public authorities. It is the only recognizable solidarity label in the French market. | d | 1 | 13 |
Finansol | 9 | SRI Approach | Labeled products are high social and/or environmental impact and mostly refer to Society unlisted and thematic projects often excluded from traditional finance. Alternatively, at least 25 percent of investment income must fund social activities such as gifts to nonprofits. Applicants must also meet high standards of transparency and be intent on actively promoting products to their networks. | d | 1 | 14 |
Finansol | 9 | Mandatory Criteria | The label is only issued to savings products dedicated to investment with high social and/or environmental impact and products that dedicate at least 25 percent of their proceeds to charity. The costs, business plan, investment beneficiaries, and transparency of the products involved (insurance contracts, mutual funds, savings accounts) are also examined | d | 1 | 16 |
Finansol | 9 | Additional criteria | There are no additional criteria | d | 1 | 17 |
Finansol | 9 | Allocation process | The finansol label is reserved for FAIR members, who must submit their applications annually by attaching the required documents ; an independent committee of experts reviews the application and issues an opinion. The Committee meets four times a year to adjudicate new applications and another time to review funds already labelled. The Board of Directors then adjudicates on the Committee's proposal and awards the label. | d | 1 | 20 |
Finansol | 9 | External certification | The Finansol label is awarded based on the review of documents provided, and the Label Committee annually verifies the continued eligibility conditions. | d | 1 | 22 |
Finansol | 9 | Focus on transparency | Transparency to customers of product content is just as essential as providing FAIR/Finansol with the data required for attribution, and participating in surveys and statistical data collection by the Association. | d | 1 | 23 |
Finansol | 9 | Focus on periodic checks | Inspection is carried out directly by the Label Committee without the use of third-party certifiers | d | 1 | 24 |
Finansol | 9 | Related parties | FAIR counts AFD (French Development Agency), Acted and CDC through banque des territoires among its institutional partners. FAIR is a member of FEBEA (European Federation of Ethical and alternative Banks and financiers). | d | 1 | 25 |
